Study for a drawing that was published in the magazine Die Jugend, Jg. 6, Nr. 97, 1900, as an illustration for a poem by the Viennese humorist, writer and journalist Kory Towska (Kory Elisabeth Rosenbaum, 1868-1930).


Provenance: Collection F. W. Denzel, with his stamp on the mat, there inscribed and numbered "1781" and "Y 21"


"Walter Georgi was one of the main exponents of Munich Art Nouveau and Impressionism around 1900.  After studying at the academies in Leipzig, Dresden and Munich, from 1896 Georgi was one of the main employees of the weekly magazines "Die Jugend" and "Simplicissimus". There he came into contact with "Gruppe G" and founded the "Scholle" with its members in 1899 in order to be able to exhibit together in the Glass Palace."  B
