The drawing was made circa 1917 as a study for the painting "Salome", today in the Städtische Galerie Dresden, inv.no. 1960/77. The work shows the opera singer and director Eva Plaschke-von der Osten. The subject had been familiar to Hans Unger since the world premiere of Richard Strauss' opera "Salome" at the Royal Court Theater in Dresden in 1905.
