Provenance:  Industrialist Dr. Eugen Lucius (1834-1903), Frankfurt a.M./Schönstadt (verso, on the mount, with the stamp "Eugen Lucius Schönstadt" and with the adhesive label "No 18 Eugen Lucius Frankfurt a.M."), who acquired the drawing directly from the artist between 1894 and 1903.


This early work shows the strong influence of the artist's mentor Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach.
