Singer (catalogue raisonne) 167 III.  According to Singer, there were only "15 impressions in all."  Singer mentions the present sheet with the annotated date of July 16, 1882.

Provenance: ex coll. Heinrich Stinnes (1867-1932), Cologne, who was the greatest German print collector of his day and was known for acquiring the rarest and finest impressions; his purple collector stamp (Lugt 4436) lower left

Proof of the third (final) state of the rejected plate for Sheet 2 (Singer 158) of the portfolio Eine Liebe, Opus X

Splendid and atmospheric impression with the completed depiction and the delicate drypoint monogram lower right; with a wide, probably the full margin.

Condition: merely slightly dusty, minimally stained, delicate water-stain at upper right; otherwise, an immaculately beautiful and unblemished copy.

The Daulton Collection owns another impression of this rare print:

Singer (catalogue raisonne) 167 III

Provenance: ex coll. Werner Eberhard Müller (Lugt 5075)

Proof of the third (final) state of the rejected plate for Sheet 2 (Singer 158) of the portfolio Eine Liebe, Opus X

Magnificent impression of this scarce print.

Minor signs of wear, small pencil annotations in the bottom margin at the bottom, slightly browned in the mat cutout, otherwise flawless.  Wide, probably full margin.
