"In miniature, Rothaug draws the myth of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, rising from the sea foam. Shimmering drops of water sit like pearls in Aphrodite's hair and veil, softly curved lines frame the small drawing, take up the motif of the waves ornamentally, and support the decorative effect of the sheet. Around 1910, Rothaug also realized the figure of Aphrodite Anadyomene as an etching in Ernst Bauer's ex libris." B
"Rothaug zeichnet in miniaturhafter Sorgfalt den Mythos der aus dem Meeresschaum aufsteigenden Aphrodite, der Göttin der Liebe und der Schönheit. Schimmernde Wassertropfen sitzen wie Perlen in Aphrodites Haar und Schleier, weich geschwungene Linien umrahmen die kleine Zeichnung, nehmen das Motiv der Wellen ornamental auf und unterstützen die dekorative Wirkung des Blattes. Um 1910 setzte Rothaug die Figur der Aphrodite Anadyomene auch als Radierung im Ex libris Ernst Bauer um." B
