"Es sass ein schneeweiss Vögelein auf einem Dornenbäumelein in der Lenzesseit.  Zu Liebchens Thüre hin es flog: 'Schläfst wachst du oder bist du fort'  'Ich schlafe nicht ich wache nicht ich bin getraut seit Jahreszeit auf grün Haid.' "

English translation:

"A little snow-white bird sat upon a little thorn-tree in the springtime. It flew to its beloved's door: 'Do you sleep? Are you awake? Or have you gone away?' 'I do not sleep, I am not awake; I have been wedded for a year's time, out on the green heath.' "
