Discussion:

"Partial study for a cycle of murals on the subject of 'Human Development,' which, according to Spohr, should adorn a private library. The imaginary, primeval fishing people of the "Hyperboreans" (cf. Spohr 1902, pp. 37-40) represents an early stage of human development. [Unknown] whether the cycle was ever carried out, or who had commissioned it."  B

["Teilentwurf für einen Zyklus von Wandgemälden zum Thema 'Entwicklung der Menschheit,' die laut Spohr eine private Bibliothek schmücken sollten. Das imaginäre, urzeitliche Fischervolk der "Hyperboreer" (vgl. dazu Spohr 1902, S. 37-40) repräsentiert hier ein frühes Entwicklungsstadium der Menschheit.
